Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), marked a historic moment on September 4, 2023, as it welcomed its largest-ever group of permanent employees. A total of 109 newly-appointed personnel, consisting of 34 faculty members and administrative staff, gathered at the ASSCAT Sports and Socio-Cultural Center to take their oath of service.
The event featured the presence of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Jo Mark Libre, the concurrent ASSCAT Board of Trustees (BOT) Chair Designate. Commissioner Libre offered his congratulations and extended a warm welcome to the new ASSCAT members.
These appointments resulted from a series of BOT Meetings that began earlier this year and were carried out in accordance with the Department of Budget and Management’s Revised Organizational Structure and Staffing Standards for State Universities and Colleges (DBM ROSSSS Phase 1). This meticulous process ensured that ASSCAT could tap into fresh and capable talent.
In his message to the new ASSCAT members, Commissioner Jo Mark Libre encouraged them to demonstrate unwavering commitment, compassion, and empathy. He expressed confidence that each of them would play a pivotal role in ASSCAT’s journey towards full university status.
“I hope your journey with ASSCAT, on its path to becoming a university, will be meaningful, and I am certain that regardless of your role or title, you will contribute significantly,” Commissioner Libre added.
This mass oath-taking ceremony was part of ASSCAT’s month-long celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, highlighting the institution’s dedication to public service.
Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, ASSCAT’s President, challenged all faculty and staff to adopt and embody the institution’s core values. She urged them to integrate their personal values into the institution’s culture. Dr. Capistrano emphasized that the institution’s strength lies in its people, and the collective culture practiced by all is the institution’s identity. She noted that diverse perspectives, when combined, foster inclusivity and unity within the ASSCAT community.
As ASSCAT continues to evolve, the addition of new talent promises to invigorate its mission of excellence in education and public service. The dedication and enthusiasm of these 109 new members will contribute significantly to ASSCAT’s journey toward becoming a university and enhancing its position as a center of knowledge and service in Agusan del Sur and beyond.
